Social Investments
Carmanah Management has made investments back into the community in three main areas: homelessness, nature and education.
Woodwynn Farms
The early epicentre of homelessness in Victoria was under the Blue Bridge in downtown Victoria, directly adjacent to Carmanah’s offices, with the result that management and staff were acutely aware of this growing social problem. CEO Dave Green led the funding for the purchase of a farm in Victoria and assisted Richard Leblanc in the creation of a therapeutic community there modelled after San Patrignano, Italy.
land conservancy of BC
Carmanah became involved in TLC’s efforts to protect land adjacent to the Sooke River in greater Victoria in 2004, and has continued to support the TLC until the present time.
Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea
Carmanah assisted in the funding to establish this aquarium facility in greater Victoria. This interactive centre provides exhibits that help people better understand the marine environment in British Columbia.
Primary Schools for africa
Established by Alan Roy, an architect from Victoria, this non-profit has built six school compounds in Tanzania. Carmanah helped in the funding of the first school compound.
